FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I book just a day trip?

We believe Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand are a cycling paradise best explored through our multi-day experiences, however, during the low season (MAY-OCTOBER) we also offer single day guided trips.

If you are a group of riders interested in riding for a few days with us but don’t find any trip suited to your requirements, please contact us at custom@cyclingchiangmai.cc and we can craft a custom itinerary according to your preferences of days, distance and elevation.

Do you offer just bike rental?

No, our aim is to provide the perfect local cycling experience in Chiang Mai. For that reason we DO NOT rent bikes as a separate service from the trips.

However, If you are our trip guest and don’t want to bring your own bicycle we have carbon road bikes with Shimano 105/Ultegra (50/34-34T) available for hire during the trips*.

The bike hire fee for our 8 days/7 nights trips is THB 7,900.

*Please, note that we can provide helmets and pedals, but not cycling specific clothing and shoes.

What is the best time of the year to ride in Chiang Mai?

Mid October to mid February is the dry season in Northern Thailand with cool temperatures (15-25 celsius) to cycle and low chance of rain. November, December and January are just perfect.

May to September is monsoon season but the rains are mostly always in the afternoon, so it’s possible to ride in the mornings and the temperatures are quite nice (25-30 celsius).

March and April are the months to avoid, with high temperatures and smog.

What is the minimum number of riders required for a trip to depart?

2 riders is the minimum to guarantee the departure of all our tours.

For a small extra fee, you can guarantee the tour departure if you are only 1 rider. This will give you peace of mind to book flights and plan your time off work knowing that your cycling trip will go on as planned. If another rider books the same trip later on we will refund you that extra fee in full.
